Four T-Shirts to Benefit Four Causes
(New York, NY)---Tonic announced today that beginning August 4th the brands custom designed limited edition t-shirts conceptualized by London-based fashion designer Luella Bartley will be available at Aritzia retail stores in select cities within the U.S. and Canada. Each design in Bartley’s collection, created exclusively for Tonic’s ‘Every T Counts’ initiative, will help raise funds for the cause by which it was inspired. "I am so pleased to be part of this collaboration with Tonic,” said Bartley. “I love how the proceeds from the t-shirts go to all sorts of different causes from helping kids in Columbia with dental care to protecting coral reef in the Pacific. It's a cool and original way to give back and I think the design reflects that." The collection of bamboo and cotton blend t-shirts will retail in stores for $50 each in the U.S. and $52 in Canada; 30% of every sale will be donated to the t-shirt’s designated program. All four Luella Bartley women’s designs will be available in Aritizia stores in Seattle, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary.
“Aritzia is the perfect fit for our fashion forward, socially conscious consumers,” said Tonic founder Pankaj Shah. The women’s apparel retailer for is regarded as a leading fashion boutique in North America. Each store offers a mix of the latest and hard to find designer labels. “We love the new Tonic tees. Luella’s designs romanticize the natural world through cute, simple illustrations. With four fashionable options, each representing a great story and supporting an amazing cause, our customers may find it difficult to choose just one,” remarks Jennifer Pilkington, Aritzia’s buyer.
A for-profit company with a new business model, Tonic partners with secular non-profits working around the globe, who make huge differences in four key areas — the environment, education, poverty and social welfare. Each Tonic t-shirt collection is designed to aid in implementing philanthropic programs with measurable, impactful, global and relevant outcomes. The Tonic website (www.tonicgen.com <http://www.tonicgen.com/> ) prominently features a running, real-time count of every item purchased and the impact consumers have had on each program.
The latest collection of Tonic tees will help raise funds and awareness for the following organizations:
The Robin Tee
For students in Abricots, Haiti, shoes are one of the most expensive, yet most needed items. Sneakers are the preferred choice of assistance because many students walk miles through mountainous and rocky roads and trails to get to school every day.
Each Robin Tee sold will provide a pair of sneakers to a student in Abricots, Haiti
Partner: Friends of Paradis des Indiens
Goal: 2,500 Tees = 2,500 pairs of sneakers
The Pagan Sun Tee
Coral reefs are one of the most biologically diverse ecosystems on Earth and one of the essential life-support systems of the planet, supplying one-tenth of the fish for island and coastal people. Funds must be raised to ensure the conservation of threatened and endangered coral reefs and their surrounding marine ecosystems around the world.
Each Pagan Sun Tee sold will help protect a ¼ acre of endangered coral reef
Partner: SaveNature.org
Goal: 2,500 Tees = 625 acres of coral reef adopted
The Stag Tee
Some people think soccer is a matter of life and death. In Africa, it could be. Alive & Kicking is a UK registered charity that makes cheap, tough, repairable soccer balls, netballs and volleyballs using African skills and African leather designed for harsh African conditions. Each ball carries a message about HIV/AIDS and malaria, which teachers can use to engage children about risks to their health; in Africa, it is young people who are most at risk from these fatal but preventable diseases.
Each Stag Tee sold will provide one soccer ball to school children in Kenya
Partner: Alive & Kicking UK - Goal: 2,500 Tees = 2,500 soccer balls
The Scary Douglas Tee
Roughly 10% of Colombia’s population lives on less than $1/day and almost 25% lives on less than $2/day. Among the poor, access to healthcare is generally limited, and access to dental care is even worse. Research by the American Dental Association has linked gum disease to serious health problems such as heart disease, stroke, and bacterial pneumonia. The Global Fund for Children (GFC) seeks to advance the dignity of vulnerable children and youth worldwide. GFC pursues its mission by making strategic grants to community-based organizations around the world that promote health, education, safety and opportunity for children and youth.
Each Scary Douglas Tee sold will provide one year of dental care to two kids in Colombia
Partner: Global Fund for Children
Goal: 2,500 Tees = Dental care for 5,000 children for one year
