MTV Takes to Twitter in Its Usual Way for VMAs
Just in case you won't be in front of a television or PC tomorrow to watch the annual MTV Video Music Awards, MTV has put Twitter into play to keep you up-to-date on the latest and craziest coming from what is often one of the most spectacular, and entertaining, award shows.
But in its usual style, MTV isn't just running a Twitter monologue. It's teaming up with two companies, Radian6 and Stamen, to offer what it calls "real-time online Twitter visualization experiences" with tweets from video blogger iJustine (Justine Ezarik), according to a PR Newswire report on Reuters.
The MTV interactive application lets MTV track the real-time, aggregate action on what's happening live throughout the show and report on how fans are responding.
And it clearly knows how to tie its social network tools together. Its Twitter feed offers a link to the MTV Blogworthy Blog, where the big question of dressing room ownership looms.
"MTV's enthusiasm for engaging directly with their audience through Twitter is inspiring," said Biz Stone, Twitter co-founder, in a statement. "It's encouraging to see television evolving into a more interactive medium."
And, of course, MTV isn't just stopping there. MTV.com will offer an interactive "Watch and Discuss" video feed on its homepage as well as a Facebook "Live Stream Box" where fans can play pundit on what they are watching.
Heck, who even needs a TV to watch the show at this point?
