Make a Tweet Vid and You May Win an iPod Touch
Ever read a tweet and thought, "Hey, that would make a great YouTube video"? Well, publisher HarperCollins believes tweeting (those 140-character posts on the microblog tool Twitter) and video creation are a perfect match and are using the social technologies to promote its book featuring funny Twitter wit, aptly called "Twitter Wit."
In promoting the tome (described as an "authorized collection of the funniest tweets of all time"), edited by Nick Douglas, the publishing house is giving videographers the chance to win a copy of the book and also an iPod Touch device.
All you have to do is pick one of the five tweet options and produce a 45-second or shorter video. Douglas will then pick a winner who'll get the Touch, and three runners-up get a copy of the book.
The 176-page book, priced at $12.99, offers a foreword by Twitter co-founder Biz Stone and features celebrity tweets ranging from Ashton Kutcher to Paula Poundstone. In his foreword note, Stone explains that the power of Twitter "is not about the triumph of technology," but the "triumph of humanity."
He also notes that his company, which is apparently hiring aggressively these days, looks for a good sense of humor in job candidates who also hopefully have a Twitter account up and running.
