Tyson Gay Beats Usain Bolt
Did you miss it? If you blinked, you probably did. On Aug. 6, about 20,000 spectators watched as American Tyson Gay beat Jamaican Usain Bolt in the 100-meter dash in just 9.84 seconds. Bolt came in second, finishing in 9.97 seconds.
"I'm really happy with the win, even though Usain Bolt isn't in the best shape," Gay said. "It was very important to beat someone like that for the fans and the sport. My body worked well today; I was excited and motivated."
Gay's rival doesn't seem to have luck in the same stadium that held the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm, having lost there two years ago.
"I think (today) showed that I wasn't in the best of shape," Bolt said. "I'm not unbeatable. I can be beaten and it showed today."
Trinidad's Richard Thompson took third at 10.10 seconds.
