Storage Help for Wildfire Victims
I lived in Los Angeles for about five years, so I have a lot of friends in the area. The past few days have included updates from them on Facebook and Twitter about the horrible air quality. This is obviously not the typical bad air quality in Los Angeles, but the "very unhealthful" air in some parts due to the Station wildfire.
Of course, air quality is one thing. There are currently thousands of homes at risk, and people are being forced to move quickly, and many may not know what they're going to do with their belongings. U-Haul has an option for them.
Four U-Haul regional offices in Covina, Canyon Country, San Bernardino and Moreno Valley are offering 30 days of free storage for those residents "who have been evacuated or need to move their belongings away from areas affected by wildfires," according to this PR Newswire press release.
U-Haul is also suggesting that people can take advantage of the company's Take a Box, Leave a Box program. Those who need boxes can use the reusable moving boxes that others have dropped off. So, if you're near one of the four U-Haul regional offices (the addresses are in the press release) and have recently moved using U-Haul boxes, instead of recycling them, drop them off so they can be reused by a family in need.
