Weezer 24/7
If you are following in the footsteps of the Eagles and Christina Aguilera, you know you're doing something right. That's the story for Weezer, who became the third act to earn a dedicated radio channel on the Artist Personal Experience radio network.
Last Friday, Radio Weezer made its official debut on the A.P.E. network as heard on Clear Channel Radio's Iheartradio online network. In addition to web listening, there is also an Iheartradio mobile application that has been downloaded nearly 3 million times since its debut 10 months back.
As with the Eagles and Aguilera channels, Weezer will have complete creative control over their digital radio station. While this involves helping chose the playlist, it also includes contributing interviews, news and personal commentary. The channel will also feature tracks by some of Weezer's favorite acts, like Green Day, MGMT and Bob Dylan.
"I'm very excited to be a part of making playlists for Weezer's radio station," says the band's Pat Wilson. "I think its fun for our fans to hear the type of music that we like to listen to. It's fun to be a part of the rapidly changing technology and we hope the fans like it as much as we do."
Weezer, whose new album "Raditude" hits stores on Oct. 27, are known for such hits as "Hash Pipe," "Buddy Holly," "Beverly Hills" and "Pork and Beans." Fans are encouraged to participate in the new radio channel by emailing comments and suggestions to weezer@aperadio.comĀ or calling 1-866-686-1010.
