Who's Tops in Your Book for Science and Tech Nonprofits?

science_education.jpgThe good work performed by nonprofit organizations to strengthen local communities and to build a better world makes for some of the most inspiring and uplifting stories that we're compelled to share with our readers here at Tonic. And we've got a hunch that since these things matter to you, you've been moved or inspired by your own experience and observation of the good work and service extended by nonprofit organizations.

And our friends at GreatNonprofits want to hear what you have to say.

Think for a moment to science and technology in particular: who stands out in your mind? Perhaps it's an organization with a global focus, improving access to safe drinking water or to modern communications tools in remote areas. Possibly right in your own neighborhood, you've been inspired to see green jobs programs offer hope and employment or educational programs that encourage young girls to pursue career paths in science.

GreatNonprofits kicks off their Science & Technology 2010 Campaign, and your participation will help ensure its success. From now through the rest of August, you are invited to share your opinion by logging on to the site and submitting reviews of the organizations that have made distinct impression on you in how they transform their mission into action and impact.

GreatNonprofits is an ever-expanding resource of discussion and reviews of nonprofits as told by those who have had experience with them. Offering itself as a kind of Zagat Guide for nonprofits, through Great Nonprofits and associated partner sites you can browse reviews and add your own for more than one million organizations.

The Science & Technology 2010 Campaign will award those organizations that receive 10 or more reviews with a place on their Top-Rated Science & Technology Nonprofits List. GreatNonprofits envisions the campaign to offer a "great opportunity for nonprofits and their community members to interact and engage directly," by inviting "clients, volunteers, donors and others share with the public powerful and authentic stories that nonprofits can use to engage donors and volunteers" as explained on the campaign website.

Click here to share your thoughts on who is tops in your book among science and technology nonprofits by the August 31 campaign deadline.
