OMG! People Like Good News

At Tonic we can never get enough good news, so we're thrilled that Yahoo's gossip site, omg!, has been putting a positive spin on its celebrity news. Sure, while we all love a little snark and sometimes we need a little brutal honesty, there's really no need to get nasty. Is mean becoming passé?

Yahoo's new strategy of placing its upbeat celeb stories on its home page has sent omg! straight past its low-blowing competitors like TMZ, People and PerezHilton. USA Today reports that the latest figures from tracking firm comScore, omg! clocked 20.6 million unique visitors in May, a 65 percent increase from a year ago and more than No. 2 TMZ and No. 3 People combined.

And to the critics who claim that omg! has an unfair advantage because of click throughs from Yahoo's home page traffic, we say, who cares! People like good news and they're reading it; makes no difference how they get there.
