Yoga Among the Paintings
We've all heard of art and commerce, but what about art and ... yoga?
Through Sept. 9, The Columbia Museum of Art in Columbia, S.C., is offering classes where you can do your downward (and upward) dogs while gazing at paintings. Talk about an artful meditation!
This "Art Yoga" is led by a certified yoga instructor, and students have noticed that being outside of the traditional settings, like a yoga studio or gym, while they practice, offers a chance to reinvigorate their awareness in new and refreshing ways.
"You notice the vastness of the canvas, the colors and the mixture and your senses are so much more aware," yoga teacher, Rikki Donahue told WLTX.com.
Can't get to Columbia? Why not ask around in your town if this is something they would consider. After all, if there's anything that yoga teaches us, it's to stretch out.
Classes are scheduled for Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
