Football fans are anxiously awaiting tonight’s festivities, as the 2010 NFL Draft is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. EST at Radio City Music Hall, the first time it’s ever been in primetime. Of course, we here at Tonic are more interested in the charitable side of the draft, and that includes the events surrounding it. We’ve collected information on a few events across the country that have socially-responsible tie-ins.
- “Meet the Future Now” NFL Pre-Draft Charity Party: Artfest International is set to host tonight’s event at the ArtFest Expo Center in Dallas, Texas, which starts at 6:30 p.m. It benefits three different charities: the Marcus Spears 96 Foundation (Spears is on the Dallas Cowboys), the Michael Clayton Generation Next Foundation (Clayton plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and the Irving chapter of the National American Business Club (AMBUCS). You can find out more here.
- Falcon Nation Charity Organization (FNCO) NFL Draft Party: The nonprofit organization that’s organized and operated by fans of the Atlanta Falcons in conjunction with the team is hosting a party at the Cheyenne Grill in Atlanta, Ga., at 7:30 p.m. Those who want to attend must bring $1 or a canned food item, which will be donated to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Learn more about the event here.
- First Annual Draft Day Casino Night: Members of the New York Giants and New York Jets, along with other teams, will be at the Hudson Terrace in New York City on Friday, April 23, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., for a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament, with proceeds going toward the 9/11 Police Aid Foundation. More info is available here.
And if you know of any other charitable events surrounding the draft, please let us know in the comments section.
