Yesterday more than 15,000 runners came out to compete in a marathon in Texas. While some did it for fun, and others to raise money for a favorite charity, two unconventional lovebirds even made it their wedding venue!
A local Fox news station reports that on the 16th mile of the 26.2 course during the annual Chevron Houston Marathon, David Upton and Molly Johnston got married next to a (man-made) waterfall in the presence of a few close friends and family members.
She was wearing all white and a long veil attached to her running hat, while he sported a black shirt that looked like a tux!
“She was getting a little tired back there and I thought she was going to dump me,” the groom joked. “She figured it was the only way I was going to marry her at the marathon. It’s been five years.”
It was the bride’s sister’s clever idea and the happy couple figured that since they both love running so much, why not? They were meant to be. “They’re good people and I think they’re going to be very happy together,” said the mother of the bride. We wish them the best of luck — and no shin splints!
