It’s the first of October, which means two things. One, you’ve got T-minus 30 days to find a good Halloween costume. Two, you need to check one of five boxes in American Express Members Project‘s Action for Education Challenge.
Might we suggest you combine the two and volunteer at your local library? It’ll be like that one summer you lifeguarded — you simultaneously worked on your tan while saving lives. Believe us; you can definitely save lives at a library. The Associated Press reported today that Boston public libraries are laying off 40 people this week. While inevitably sad, that means book-lovers need librarian volunteers now more than ever. If a book falls in the middle of a library and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? It does if you step up, Tonic readers!
So go on and check that box on AEMP’s Facebook page. Your pledge will bring DonorsChoose one step closer to winning their $1 million bet with AEMP. Plus, you can perfect that sexy librarian costume and make others on Oct. 31st look like poseurs.
