America’s Largest Eco-Expo Opens In Manhattan

gogreenxpo.jpgGo Green Expo, the largest eco-conscious event for businesses and consumers in the US, returns to New York City March 19-21 at Pier 92. Tonic will be there and we hope you will be, too.

(If you don’t live in the NYC area, the expo visits Philadelphia in April and Atlanta in May.)

Here are some highlights:

Celebrities share their green goodness: Ed Begley Jr. and Matthew Modine give talks on Saturday;  Sunday, Mariel Hemingway chats on how to green your life.

Over 200 companies and organizations display their environmentally friendly and socially responsible products: These include the more obscure — such as Mr. Ellie Pooh, an eco-friendly company that sells handmade paper products made of 75 percent Sri Lankan elephant dung — to the mainstream, including Marcal’s earth-friendly goods. There are eco-friendly fashions, make-up, housewares, energy and recycling exhibitors.

Tons of interesting panel discussions and speakers: Includes Stefanie Iris Weiss, author of Eco-Sex: Go Green Between the Sheets, and a panel discussion called “State of My Environment” that includes Riverkeeper, the Pew Environment Group and Rainforest Alliance. Other speakers will focus on topics including electric cars, green business development and eco-friendly home renovation and design.

Friday, March 19 is devoted to eco-conscious business professionals: This day is not open to the public, but if you are in the green business, are a wholesale or retail purchaser, a CEO or member of the media, you can hear talks all day by eco-conscious professionals. This includes a 12:30 p.m. panel discussion on “Greening Your Business” followed by “Green Entrepreneurs: Case Studies in Success.”

Your pass is also good for free admission to The Architectural Digest Home Design Show, located next to the Go Green Expo, Pier 92, 12th Avenue & W 55th Street (646-778-3211).
