Anderson Silva Takes a Break After Rib Injury

Anderson-Silva.jpgBrazilian UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (in the yellow shorts) will not be returning to the ring until 2011.

Silva’s Jiu Jitsu coach Ramon Lemos said, “Anderson is expected to return in February or March. We have not talked, but he has to take care of injuries. He fought twice last year and had an operation on his elbow. This year he made two more fights and now with this rib injury … He is no longer a boy; he is 34 years old.”

Silva may “give it” to his opponents during a fight, but he also has been known to “give it away.” In 2007, he donated his entire portion of the proceeds from a UFC auction to the Ronald McDonald House and has fought several other times for various charities. Silva has to lay low for a few months to heal, which we think is a perfect opportunity to come up with other ways to help people outside of the Octagon.
