It’s been a busy year for Arcade Fire. Just when we thought the band couldn’t get any cooler, they found a way to impress us again.
Arcade Fire performed an impromptu show at Port-au-Prince’s Hotel Oloffson this week, playing a collection of covers that would be familiar to the Haitian audience, including Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Who’ll Stop The Rain,” the Rolling Stones’ “The Last Time” and Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want To Have Fun.”
The country is near and dear to the group’s heart. Singer Régine Chassagne is the daughter of Haitian immigrants. The crowd went wild when the group played the Chassagne-led “Haiti” from their 2004 debut album.
This isn’t the first time the group has done something for the embattled country. Last year they pledged to raise $1 million for Haitian earthquake relief during their tour.
