Now that Twitter savvy former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has more time on his hands, he’s taken a trip to the Brazilian rainforest this week to visit his buddy, director James Cameron.
The two environmentalists are there to interfere with the construction of the Belo Monte hydroelectric dam project. If it’s built, it will be third largest dam in the world. While the Brazilian government sees it at a source of electricity, conservationists realize that manipulating the water flow will push families out of their homes and harm surrounding natural resources and species.
Cameron has a soft spot for this subject, as you can see in his blockbuster film Avatar. Hopefully the presence of these two will encourage some officials to reconsider.
You can follow Schwarzenegger’s trip from his Twitter account, which includes updates and videos.
To learn more about the Belo Monte Dam project, watch the video below, voiced by actress Sigourney Weaver. It will blow your mind.
