The Most Fascinating Person of the Year Is …

506px-david_h._petraeus_2008_portrait.jpgFor the 18th year in a row, Barbara Walters presented the ten most fascinating people of 2010 on ABC. This year’s gang includes teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, soon-to-be-princess Kate Middleton, Twitter-obsessed politician Sarah Palin and Facebook founder and Giving Pledge participant Mark Zuckerberg.

Walters also interviewed new American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez, ageless diva Betty White, controversial hoopster LeBron James, America’s (strong and single) sweetheart Sandra Bullock and the wacky and wild cast of Jersey Shore.

In their own way, they’re all fascinating. But the person who took the top spot as the most fascinating person of 2010 is top US commander in Afghanistan, Gen. David Petraeus.

When referring to man she called an “American hero,” Walters said, “In life, it seems, there are people who break things and people who fix them. This man is a fixer. A lot depends on General Petraeus and his combination of humanity and strength.” Congrats!
