In honor of Earth Day, Barney’s New York and eBay have teamed up to bring us some crazy cool recycled fashion.
How cool? Commence shameless name-dropping: Versace, Stella McCartney, Derek Lam, Alexander Wang, Bottega Veneta, Rodarte, Rogan and Ann Demuelemeester. Yeah, I didn’t know who that last one was, either, but I checked out the Ann Demuelemeester website and holy Anna Mary Wintour! Definitely cool.
I still haven’t told you what I’m talking about. Sorry. I got excited. Here’s the deal:
eBay joined forces with Barney’s New York and Elle to celebrate Earth Day by auctioning off one-of-a-kind styles — created by the schmancy designers above — out of recycled denim that Barney’s collected last summer. That’s right. They thought about this in advance. It was like, extra credit. And now it’s on display in their window (pictured)!
Starting on April 30, these hot recycled designs will be up for bidding on eBay, all starting at 99 cents. The proceeds will benefit Oceana, the world’s largest organization which focuses 100 percent on ocean conservation. And for the record, my money’s on the Alexander Wang top. WANT.
