Be Best Buddies with Tom Brady

tom_brady.jpg“I first did the ride nine years ago. I rode 40 miles with my sisters, and it was a great family event. I really liked the premise — trying to build friendships for those less fortunate than we are. That was the premise, the importance of friendship. I think of the value of my friends in my life, and that’s something some of these [mentally challenged] people don’t have, based on something that was out of their control when they were born. It’s just unfair. And this group does so much for them that I just wanted to do my part.” –Tom Brady, Best Buddies

Recurring roll…  Tom Brady will return to his post as Honorary Chairman of the Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hyannis Port. The two-day event, which includes a walk, run and ride, will benefit Best Buddies International. The nonprofit, founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, is a global volunteer network that helps to foster one-on-one relationships for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Friendship is a simple idea… The New England Patriot QB marvels at the notion of “connecting people who may not normally be friends and changing the way people think about individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities — that’s huge.” The event has already raised over $3 million in donations. But then again, we’d expect nothing less from Mr. Brady.
