Louise Brooks’ bob, the perfect swirl of Veronica Lake’s s-shaped curl, Farah Fawcett’s gravity-defying waves and Jennifer Aniston’s coiffed-to-order “Rachel” cut. All are examples of hairstyles that have induced near-hysteria with equal amounts of envy in women.
The latest comes courtesy of 22-year-old “Gossip Girl” star, Blake Lively whose bouncy, shiny, healthy flaxen mane who make Rapunzel herself cry out “as if!” in jealously.
So, of course, on target with the times comes the request in salons across America for hair just like Blake/Serena (the character she plays). The New York Times piece on the matter points out the one crucial element in all of this: some gals just have hit the genetic lottery and no amount of shampoo, cut, color or curling iron will turn you into an exact replica. But it hasn’t stopped loads from trying.
But that’s half the fun of it, no? Who doesn’t use the beauty parlor as some kind of escape at some point? And if you can imagine yourself, while under the care of a stylist and the inviting warmth of the blow dryer, as fabulous as the starlet whose locks you crave … well, then it might be worth the effort.
