James Franco, Adrien Brody Help Blanket America

Bed linensAn NGO called Blanket America asks one simple question: “What if the greatest economy in human history matched what it consumed with what it donated?” Every time someone buys a blanket from participating retailers, Blanket America will donate a blanket to someone in America who needs one. The goal? To provide warmth to one million American this year.

There are at least 40 million Americans living in poverty, and with the sour economy changing a lot of people’s fortunes for the worse, that number is sure to be rising fast. Millions of people need blankets as the winter goes on, and now a diverse collection of celebrities is helping Blanket America launch a new campaign to try and meet that need.

Adrien Brody, James Gandolfini, James Franco, Adrian Grenier and America Ferrara, among others, got together at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, over the weekend to create a public service campaign launching Blanket America’s Buy 1, Give 1 campaign, according to a press release.

You don’t have to be famous to help out this campaign. You can purchase your next blanket at participating retailers such as JC Penney, QVC and Amazon.com, which features the Patchwork Heritage Quilt. Don’t need another blanket? You can donate cash if you prefer. Warm heart, warm bed.
