Bo Bice, Chris O’Donnell and Mark Ronson Make Us Smile

Bo Bice is Happy He Came in Second on Idol

bo_boce.jpgFormer American Idol Bo Bice feels blessed that he was the runner up to Carrie Underwood five years ago on American Idol.

“I wouldn’t want Carrie’s schedule for anything,” he told me on Tuesday when we were on the Fox News Strategy Room panel together. “She’s the hardest working woman in show biz.”

Not that Bo isn’t ridiculously busy himself. He and his wife just had their third boy and this week he released his third album, aptly titled 3, which includes the single “Long Road Back,” the proceeds from which he plans to donate to Nashville flood relief.

“I wanted to do something that was inspiring to the city of Nashville. The song is about keepin’ your head up. I wanted to let them know there are people thinkin’ of them and people that love them and there are people who want to pull this city back up by its boot straps.”

Bo is planning a benefit which will also benefit Nashville flood relief and hitting the road to promote his album.

“At this point in my life, with three kids I go on the road to get sleep,” Bo told me. “I get some sleep on the tour bus except for my dog snoring.”

His advice to the final three Idols?

“Practice, practice, practice. If you think you have practiced enough then go practice another hundred times.”

Chris O’Donnell Says His Most Important Role is Being a Dad

chris_odonnell_wife_caroline.jpgBack in 1995, Chris O’Donnell was on the verge of super stardom when he played Batman’s sidekick Robin in Batman Forever. Scripts and parts came rolling in, but Chris took a step back and decided instead to focus on his family. “I was being offered these huge films that would have taken my career to a different level, and I decided to put on the brakes. I knew if I continued on that track, I probably wouldn’t have gotten married,” O’Donnell says in the upcoming issue of Redbook magazine.

He and wife, Caroline, married in 1997 and have five children — Lily Anne, 10, Christopher ‘Chip’ Eugene, 9, Charles McHugh, 6, Finley, 4, and Maeve Frances, 2.

Then O’Donnell put the icing on the cake with one of the most refreshing lines ever uttered by a man in Hollywood.

“I knew when I got into this business I couldn’t have it both ways: I could live the playboy lifestyle, which is not a bad thing to do, or have a traditional family life, which is how I grew up. And that was more important to me,” Chris says.

I didn’t think I could love him any more after Scent of a Woman. I was wrong.

Mark Ronson is Quickly Becoming My Favorite Ronson

We read a lot about the Ronson family (mostly in connection to a certain starlet that the tabloids love to write about.) But this time, there is something awesome and super good to write about. On Monday DJ Mark Ronson was on hand at Milk Studios in Manhattan to announce the launch of The Creator’s Project, a collaboration with VICE and Intel that will bring together artists, musicians, architects, designers and all manner of other “creatives” to collaborate on a massive, global scale.

Starting in New York on June 26, the Creator’s Project will move to London, Sao Paulo, Seoul and then, Beijing, for a three-day finale consisting of exhibits and shows from all over the world.

Think TED, but even younger and hipper (I know it’s tough to imagine.) I cannot wait to see what these amazing folks have up their sleeves.
