In case you didn’t notice, Tonic has a pretty cool and unique thing going on right now. When we launched Tonic.com, we did so with an unprecedented celebrity iPod auction series.
Our celeb friends autographed the backs of the iPods, and dumped their personal playlists on the music players. All the money raised — that’s 100 percent of the proceeds — is going to Music Rising, to help get music going again on the U.S. Gulf coast. The whole thing just rocks.
We’re already raising some serious coin. As of Feb. 25 we’ve raised $1,870 from the sale of just four iPods. Meriah Carey’s iPod takes the prize for the most raised, coming in strong at $560.
The current leader among active auctions is Ellen Degeneres, whose auction closes Feb. 26. She recently featured it on her show, and it looks like Ellen’s Army has come out in full force, stepping up big time. Right now the bid on her iPod is up to a whopping $2,750… and counting. Wow!
While raising money is great, what’s on the iPods is downright fascinating — it’s like a look into our favorite stars’ closets — a peek into their personalities. So let’s take a look at Ellen’s playlist while we’re talking about her.:
