Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber Dine in Style for Charity

picture_1.pngDecophiles will unite in two weeks at the annual Architectural Digest Home Design Show, which runs from March 18 to 21 at New York City’s Pier 94. In conjunction with the event, DIFFA, which stands for Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, will run their nationally-touring Dining by Design exhibit, which has its annual debut each spring at the Design Show. This year, Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber will co-host DIFFA’s gala dinner, which will close out the event on March 22.

According to their website, DIFFA is “one of the country’s largest supporters of direct care for people living with HIV/AIDS and preventive education for those at risk. Merging care and commerce, supporters of DIFFA come from all fields of fine design and the visual arts, including: architecture, fashion design, interior design, photography and consumer product design.” The multi-city Dining by Design tour has raised over $13 million so far to help DIFFA in its efforts.

DIFFA’s Dining by Design is renowned for “bring[ing] together some of the most talented and celebrated individuals in the worlds of fashion, interior design, art, and architecture to create spectacular, over-the-top dining environments.” This year’s exhibition will feature installations by luminaries from the decor world such as Tracy Reese, David Stark, Vicente Wolf, and Michael Tavano.

DBD will also once again partner with the Student Design Initiative presented by Benjamin Moore, which aims to “give the next generation of great designers the rare opportunity to work with some of the best design veterans in the business and participate in one of the industry’s most anticipated events.” Designers like David Stark and Miles Redd will mentor students from noted design schools, including Pratt and FIT, through the creative process from conception to execution.

The event will also feature dancing and a silent auction to help raise money for DIFFA. For the true design-lover and philanthropist, this is one event not to be missed.
