Today Google is using its doodle to celebrate science-fiction writer and author of the classic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Jules Verne, as this would be his 183 birthday. When you go to the Google homepage you will see a with a fun and interactive doodle of a Nautilus with a control stick that you can use to peer underwater.
Designer Jennifer Horn, who made the Doodle, explains why she was touched by Verne as a child: “Looking back, I realize that what fascinated me most was the unknown: a creative spark and the imaginative exploration that followed … His stories pull the readers into a world filled with infinite potential — be it in the clouds, on land or under the sea … he tries to capture that sense of adventure and exploration.”
