Green Tech: Have your alarm and drink it too

By Dan Estabrook – September 23, 2008

Like me, do you dread waking up in the morning?  I am a night person myself, and my outdated Sony alarm clock with its CD player (not used since I bought my first iPod in 2005), obnoxious buzzer (the neighbors have complained) and power cord (yes – as you will see in a minute, that is also outdated) wakes me from my slumber as I throw my hand at it in disgust, often knocking it to the floor.

It’s time for a new alarm clock!  And one that is eco-friendly to boot!

ThinkGeek is selling its new water-powered alarm clock — just fill the clock with any electrolytic fluid (water, soda, beer) and the clock will run for weeks.  And – it’s a bargain at $12.99.

You can even put flowers into the reservoir.  And who doesn’t like fresh flowers first thing in the morning?

With the holidays right around the corner, this cute little guy might be a great stocking stuffer…
