Gwyneth Paltrow’s “lifestyle website” GOOP, which she launched last year, sends out a newsletter each week with information that falls under one of six rubrics: Make, Go, Get, Do, Be and See. The pearls of wisdom in the categories usually correspond to Gwyneth’s own life experience. Because of that, she’s been the target of some ridicule from websites like Gawker, because Gwyneth telling us to buy the same shoes that she buys, to stay in the same luxury hotels in Spain where she stays and talking about her famous friends all the time just like you do … well, you can maybe see where they might have a point with their snark (And does anybody seriously know what’s up with the name?).
But Gwynnie does dole out some good advice some weeks, whether on vegan recipes (Make), or alternative therapies (Do), and this week’s is more of the same (Get) where G reminds us to keep our eyes open to the possibilities of eco-friendly living.
Excerpt follows:
“Going green” is no longer just the ideology of left-wing hippies. Nor is it a trend. We are living in exciting times. We are confronted with the challenge of sustaining our food, our water and our environment. We are changing things. It’s big. You know a movement is afoot when Windex® imposes a “green list” to regulate what goes into their products and Reynolds Wrap® launches an aluminum foil made out of recycled, well, aluminum. The more commercial it goes, the better off we all are, and not only from an ecological and environmental standpoint. Design-wise, inspiring options are becoming available. It’s a win-win.”
“Nourish the Inner Aspect,” is the tagline of Gwyneth’s website. If you’re interested in hearing what she (or whoever writes them for her?) has to say, you can sign up here to receive it — straight to your inbox.
