It’s not every day that you get to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to deserving charities. In fact, if you’re like me, it isn’t any day that you get to do such a thing.
So it’s exciting to hear that Project 7, a company that produces bio-water, mints, gum and eco-T’s, is asking for help — our help — to decide where its gift of $105,000 should go, according to a press release.
The “Great Giveaway” will provide seven charities with $15,000 each to help them through 2010, a year when the down economy will force many nonprofits to stringently tighten their belts or even close their doors.
Project 7 identified seven areas of need and outlined entry criteria, which narrowed the field down to three preselected finalists in each category. The criteria included being based in the US, serving one of Project 7′s chosen causes and donating at least half of every donation dollar to direct service.
Check out the list of finalists below and then visit the voting page of the Web site to cast your ballot. Winners will be announced during the first week of February.
