Hilary Duff is one of the few decent young actresses in Hollywood keeping her word and being charitable. Duff is off to Colombia next month at the invite of Bogota Mayor Samuel Moreno, who named her the youth ambassador.
“We are going to develop a day of vaccination, we’ll invite her to the Institute for the Protection of the Childhood and to the community dining rooms and to the school restaurants where we are doing the program of food safety,” Moreno said, during a press conference to announce her participation.
Duff has expressed concerned for the youth of Bogota, and is offering a commitment to improve living conditions, “I feel very happy for supporting these important efforts,” she told Mayor Rojas in a letter.
Duff is expected to work with “Blessings in a Backpack,” an organization dedicated to generating public awareness of child hunger in the United States and beyond. Organization founder Stan Curtis sent a message to Bogotá telling the city’s officials that “to receive the support of the Major is a great example of his philosophy in which when a good leadership guides, wonderful things happen.”
This move puts Duff in league with another multi-talented star, Shakira, who launched a similar program (the Barefoot Foundation) that supports schools in her native Colombia.
