On TV, iParticipate. Will U?

“Now is our time to work as one,” says Faith Hill on a new PSA airing this week on TV as part of the iParticipate public service broadcasting initiative orchestrated by the Entertainment Industry Foundation.

Four major TV networks — ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC — will air PSAs and incorporate messages about volunteering into more than 60 shows this week in response to a call to action in the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act.

The L.A. Times reports that viewers will see the theme pop up all over the place. Doctors on ABC’s “Private Practice” will offer free medical exams to homeless teenagers, a character on NBC’s “30 Rock” will attempt to adopt every single dog from the local animal shelter, and CBS’s “Numb3rs” will involve discussion of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

The initiative continues all week, so look for volunteer messages in your favorite programming. And then take the hint and do something yourself. Click over to Create the Good, a project of AARP, an iParticipate partner, to find out how you can help.

As Faith Hill says in her PSA: “There are so many ways to create the good. What will you do?”
