Date Night With Jake Gyllenhaal, Penelope Cruz Opens Her Closet for Haiti And Madonna Stands Up For Gay Men in Malawi

Jake Gyllenhaal Has a Movie Date With a Hundred Ladies

He’s on the market girls, go get him! The Prince of Persia hottie made female fans swoon when he made a surprise visit to an advance screening of his new flick at the AMC movie theater in Century City, California. The crowd went wild for Jake as he said a few words and joked that he knows his movie is opening opposite a little known chick flick next week, Sex and the City 2. He then laughed and pointed at himself saying his hot bod, ”is the real Sex and the City!” So many heads have never collectively nodded in agreement at once.

Madonna Stands Up For Gays in Malawi

madonna_crop.jpgThe 51-year-old superstar has spent a great deal of time and given large donations to the nation since adopting her son. Her organization, Raising Malawi is currently building an all-girls boarding school in the country. Madonna has strong ties to the African nation of Malawi.

In 2006 she adopted her son David from the African country. Now she is speaking out against a prison sentence handed down to a gay couple this week who were arrested and charged after publicly celebrating their engagement.

Tiwonge Chimbalanga, 33, and Steven Monjeza, 25, were convicted of unnatural acts and gross indecency and sentenced to 14 years of hard labor in prison.

“I am shocked and saddened by the decision made today by the Malawian court, which sentenced two innocent men to prison,” Madonna said in a statement. “Today Malawi took a giant step backward. The world is filled with pain and suffering; therefore, we must support our basic human right to love and be loved. I call upon the progressive men and women of Malawi — and around the world — to challenge this decision in the name of human dignity and equal rights for all.”

Penelope Cruz Sheds Her Red Carpet Dress For Haiti Relief

The gorgeous Penelope Cruz and fine jewelry maker Chopard raised $333,000 to aid in Haiti relief this week in Cannes, France. Cruz and Chopard organized an auction of red carpet gowns donated by Cruz and her pals Scarlett Johansson, Diane Kruger, Charlize Theron, Naomi Watts, Marion Cotillard, Demi Moore, Gisele Bundchen, Anne Hathaway, Julia Roberts and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The auction helped to raise funds for actor/director Sean Penn‘s Jenkins-Penn Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO).

Salma Hayek raised $21,000 alone, selling her burgundy Gucci gown, the first from the Italian brand’s new couture range.
