Jon Stewart and Oprah Winfrey are BFF

jon-oprah.pngVoted “the most trusted newscaster in America” in a poll conducted by TIME, Jon Stewart appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday and really got people talking. Oprah Winfrey couldn’t hide her admiration, slathering Stewart with praise and continuous giggling. There actually wasn’t a down moment in the whole interview. (highly recommended to watch it below.)

To prove it, we’ve put together a little list of why Winfrey and Stewart are best friends forever:

1. Among several revealing moments, he announced his new book Earth: A Visitor’s Guide to the Human Race. Fingers crossed it might end up on her epic Book Club list.

2. He reminded fans that on Oct. 30, he will be in the nation’s capital, holding his very own Rally to Restore Sanity alongside Stephen Colbert, for people who are fed up with the current political situation.

3. The question that’s been on everyone’s minds was answered. Will he ever run for public office? Stewart told Winfrey he will “never run for public office.”

When asked if he feels he is “powerful” when it comes to influencing people’s minds on politics, Stewart said, “I deny that I am powerful. Power implies an agenda that’s being acted on…. That’s how I see it. I’m not saying I’m powerless and in a vacuum. But if I really wanted to change things, I’d run for office. I haven’t considered that, and I wouldn’t — because this is what I do well. The more I move away from comedy, the less competent I become…. My job is I make jokes. I don’t solve problems. If my job became solving problems, I would suddenly become a lot less good at what I do, unless the problem being had by the country was a lack of jokes.”
