Jude Law Wants You!

Do you plan to participate in this year’s World Peace Day? If so, Jude Law wants to know how.

The British actor is helping spread the word about the new World Peace video competition. To enter, you simply need to create a video — elaborate or simple, but under two minutes — that explains how you will make a difference on Sept. 21, which the United Nations unanimously dubbed World Peace Day back in 2001. The day will be highlighted by the annual World Peace Day concert, which Law hosted last year, taking place in Paris with Lenny Kravitz and Kasabian.

While the timing of the first Peace holiday is ironic, the idea itself stretches back to 1999 when Peace One Day founder Jeremy Gilley started his non-profit organization to encourage an annual day of non-violence. Several high-profile supporters have since signed on to the cause, including Angelina Jolie, Coldplay singer Chris Martin and Virgin’s Sir Richard Branson, and here’s hoping Chris Brown at least participates.

“Show us what Peace means to you,” said Law in a statement. “It doesn’t have to look professional, just have a go. Share it with the world on Peace One Day’s YouTube channel. We’ll select the most inspirational finalists and then you’ll decide the winner. The prize is a state-of-the-art HD camera and a day with Jeremy Gilley learning the art of documentary filmmaking.”

World Peace Day is Sept. 21, but the video competition runs through the end of the month. Click here for more information.
