I know next to nothing about the Jonas Brothers. Something about the Disney Channel, breaking Taylor Swift‘s heart, being dreamy; it’s all kind of a blur. But what I do know is that before Justin Bieber took the Internet by storm, these guys were pretty much the cat’s pajamas when it came to the tween demographic. But more importantly to us here at Tonic, they’re also charitable individuals, as Kevin Jonas recently proved on NBC’s Minute to Win It.
The oldest of the three brothers, Kevin appeared on the show last night because, according to Monsters and Critics, he “wanted to try his hand at the games after becoming frustrated with previous contestants.” Using that competitive fire, he shook ping-pong balls out of a tissue box attached to his derriere, catapulted marshmallows with a broom and pulled dollar bills from underneath piles of quarters. After all was said and done, he won a cool $250,000. It’s the most anyone has ever won on the show, at least according to the host, Guy Fieri (and he would know, right?). And instead of pocketing the dough, the recently married Jonas is going to give it to the family’s charity, Change for the Children Foundation.
The foundation’s mission is to “support programs that motivate and inspire children to face adversity with confidence, determination and a will to succeed.” Each brother focuses on a particular aspect they’re passionate about. Kevin’s focus is volunteerism, courtesy of DoSomething, while Nick concentrates on diabetes awareness and Joe supports the Special Olympics.
