Kid Saves Grandpa from Drowning

Eight-year-old Tanner Jensen of Minnetonka, Minnesota saved his Holocaust-surviving grandfather from drowning and is set to receive a special honor from the City Council of Minnetonka at their upcoming meeting on September 14th.

The quick-thinking little kid saw his grandfather slip by the pool at his condo, break his hip, and slide helplessly into the deep end of the pool — and Tanner knew Grandpa couldn’t swim. Tanner, who’s been swimming since the ripe old age of about one, courageously jumped in and dragged Grandpa by the hair to the shallow end of the pool where he could get his head above water, then ran inside to get Grandma to call 911.

We think this is totally awesome, and hope that all the good press will encourage Tanner to be brave and help people for the rest his life. Great job, kid!

Be sure to check out the video — his mother gives delightful new meaning to the term “fair hair” at the Minnesota State Fair!
