Laura Linney Speaks on the Beauty of Aging

laura_linney.jpg Emmy Award-winner Laura Linney is currently acting and producing in the Showtime series The Big C, a comedy about living with cancer. She plays a mother from Minneapolis who was diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma.

Linney said she was drawn to the story because it brought up concepts she had been dealing with in her own life, one of them being the way society views the aging process.

“The privilege of aging, which is, I think, something that people have forgotten about,” Linney said. “I think it’s human nature to sort of push that aside, but, you know, no one is guaranteed a long life. People forget that. That as difficult as aging is, as horrible and frustrating and painful and embarrassing as it can be for some people, you know, it’s truly — it’s truly a privilege.”
