Lauren Bush’s New FEED Bag for Kenya

The unassuming canvas tote has become the star accessory for both urban hipsters and suburban soccer moms. Not only do they serve the obvious purpose of the transport of goods and groceries, but they’re also fashionable in today’s eco-friendly landscape. Model/designer Lauren Bush’s (George W.’s niece) FEED bags go one step further — beyond just fashion and function: Proceeds from the sale of each bag benefit the U.N. Word Food Programme, for which she is an honorary spokesperson.

Her new bag, FEED 2 Kenya, Women’s Wear Daily reports, is launching this week at Bergdorf Goodman. The bags are crafted by Kenyan women and students from a school for the deaf and made with local Masai fabric. Of each $195 bag, $100 will go to feed two Kenyan children in school for a year. This philanthropic initiative really gives that unassuming tote a statement, and a whole lot of power to help.
