Wright County Egg in Galt, Iowa is scrambling to get to the bottom of the salmonella outbreak by recalling 380 million eggs, according to Huffington Post. The company has farms around the country that produce eggs that may be contributing to the illnesses reported in several states.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, the eggs were sold to food wholesalers, distribution centers and food service companies in California, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
The eggs were also sold nationwide to the following brands: Lucerne Foods, Albertsons, Mountain Dairy, Ralph’s, Boomsma’s, Sunshine Foods, Hillandale, Trafficanda Egg Ranch, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund Egg, Dutch Farms and Kemps.
The FDA says, “Consumers who believe they may have purchased these shell eggs should not eat them but should return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.”
Don’t be paranoid, but definitely keep you eye out for these brands. Or, if you think you have already ingested salmonella, look for symptoms such as diarrhea and stomach cramping that should occur within eight to 72 hours of when you consumed the product.
