Learn CPR in Gabby Giffords’ Honor Tomorrow

As good news continues to come out about the recovery of Rep. Gabby Giffords, who was shot in the head in Tucson in early January, the American Red Cross is providing another opportunity to turn tragedy into triumph.

All across the country tomorrow, the Red Cross will host “Gabrielle Giffords Honorary Save-a-Life Saturday.” More than 100 locations will offer free classes to teach hands-only CPR and wound and shock treatment.

Participants will learn the kinds of skills that Giffords’ star intern, Daniel Hernandez, used to save her life at the scene of the shooting.

Giffords’ husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, said simply, “CPR training saves lives.”

Former House speaker Nancy Pelosi praised the “ever-increasing, widening circle of people who are able to be a resource in time of emergency,” calling it “Gabby’s gift to all of us in this very difficult time.”
