The world’s largest bone marrow donor center DKMS has teamed up with Extreme Home Makeover: Home Edition and Major League Soccer to save this little boy’s life.
Jonah Gomez is 7 years old and dreams of becoming a professional soccer player but has blood cancer and needs a bone marrow match to live.
To help make Jonah live to see his dreams come true, DKMS will be holding donor drives this Saturday at Major League Soccer games in seven cities across the US, including Salt Lake City, Pasadena, Washington DC, San Jose, Philadelphia, Dallas and Kansas City. If you don’t live in any of these cities you can register online here.
Jonah and has his family were sent to Disneyland this weekend while Extreme Makeover: Home Edition builds them a new home with a special area for Jonah to play soccer!
Jonah’s mother had to give up her airline job in November to take care of him, whereby losing her health insurance, yet the Gomez family is soldiering on.
Jonah is not alone when it comes to struggling to find a donor. There are thousands of people every day who search the national registry hoping to find a bone marrow donor match and only 4 out of 10 patients actually do.
