What Would Gandhi Think?
That’s the question. What would Mahatma Gandhi, the father of Indian independence, think about his words being invoked by the much beleaguered Lindsay Lohan before her release from court-mandated rehab this week.
Over the weekend Lohan tweeted: “Today is the first day of the rest of my life. ‘The future depends on what we do in the present.’ – Mahatma Gandhi… One step at a time…. “
Wise words spoken by a wise man. Of course Gandhi never could have anticipated his invocations of political peace and justice would be trumpeted by an oft-lawbreaking starlet, but Lohan did spread those words of wisdom and inspiration to her 1.4 million Twitter followers. That’s a good thing at least!!
Lohan has been in the Betty Ford treatment center since October and is expected to be released this week.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Gift $2 Million to African Wildlife Sanctuary
America’s most famous couple spent the holidays just like us, in the developing African nation of Namibia, the birthplace of their first-born daughter Shiloh. OK, so they weren’t at all like any of us, but we wouldn’t mind being a little like them.
At the conclusion of their trip, Jolie and Pitt donated $2 million to the Naankuse Wildlife Sanctuary where they stayed during their holiday.
The sanctuary is home to orphaned and injured animals that have a hard time being released back into the world. It offers luxury accommodations onsite to raise money for its various projects. While at the sanctuary the Jolie-Pitt clan saw one of the doctors heal a wild dog and a leopard released back into the wild, according to US Weekly magazine.
“We continue to be impressed by their hard work and dedication to the people and conservation of the land and wildlife of Namibia,” Jolie said in a statement.
Garth Brooks Raises $10 Million for Flood Relief
It really has been the season of giving! Garth Brooks performed at nine sold-out benefit concerts in Nashville between Dec. 16 and 22, raising more than $10 million in revenue, with $3 million going to victims of the May flood that ravaged the city.
“The feeling is so good that money can’t buy this,” Garth told The Boot. “And this is one of those things that the money’s going to do a great thing, but the money isn’t even up on the business part of it, because your promoters are not working a business deal, your building’s not working a business deal or percentage deal. Every one just says, ‘Well, we’re just here to make sure everything’s running smoothly, but none of us are making any money, so let’s just go have fun.’”
If you missed Garth in Nashville you’ll be shelling out a pretty penny for his Las Vegas show. Due to high demand tickets recently topped $200.
