Linkin Park’s New Video — More Than Meets the Eye

Linkin Park just gave MTV another reason to play music videos again.

On Friday, the Grammy-winning rock act debuted its video for “New Divide,” the first single from the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen soundtrack. The song is already a smash hit one the radio. In addition to giving the band its eighth No. 1 hit on the Modern Rock chart, “Divided” gave Linkin its highest debut ever on the pop charts.

Holy Hasbro! If the song’s already parked in the pole position now, imagine how big it’ll be after this video and Transformers‘ opening weekend!

As with many of the band’s past works, DJ-keyboardist Joe Hahn directed the video, which includes visual elements from the film itself. The special effects-laden work, which regularly transforms singer Chester Bennington into a distorted graphic image, was filmed at Paramount Studios in Hollywood.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen — starring Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro — hits the big screen on Wednesday, June 24. Linkin Park, who also contributed to the score, are set to give the soundtrack a big debut the day before. They better, or they’ll be answering to Optimus Prime!

Without further ado, the “New Divide” video:
