Want to know how to go green just by tapping your foot? It’s easy — check out the new Patagonia Music Collective, download tracks from your favorite artists and get down knowing that proceeds will go to green organizations chosen by the musicians.
The innovative initiative launched yesterday with more than 20 exclusive songs, each priced at 99 cents apiece. Going forward, a new song and a new artist will be added each week.
Already on board: Maroon 5, Pearl Jam, Jack Johnson, the Zac Brown Band and more. They have all chosen causes that are close to their heart. Ziggy Marley‘s “A Fire Burns for Freedom (Acoustic)” will benefit the Jamaica Environment Trust, for example, while Philip Glass‘ “Kyoko’s House” will raise money for the Raincoast Conservation Foundation.
Patagonia founder and eco-activist Yvon Chouinard said, ”If they can see that these musicians are concerned about the environment and it’s cool to be concerned about the environment, I think it will be a huge influence on young people.”
