Emmy award winning costume designer Janie Bryant has brought about a renaissance of early ’60s fashion thanks to her fabulous reinterpretations of the era’s printed chiffon dresses and glen plaid suits for AMC’s Mad Men.
Now, a teensy weensy selection of the 75-200 costumes she has designed per episode for the past four seasons will be available at auction starting today.
What’s more? It’s all in the name of a good cause. Lionsgate has teamed up with Auction Cause to host the show’s first charity auction to benefit the Lung Cancer Program at City of Hope, which offers patient care, research and innovative treatments for cancer patients.
Take a look at the image above. It’s the show’s title card. Could it be that the producers of the Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning drama are looking to mitigate any damage from their characters’ constant smoking?
The 10-day eBay auction kicks off August 12. As of 7 p.m. PST (that’s 10 p.m. EST) you’ll be able to bid on three iconic dresses worn by Mad Men‘s leading ladies — including the metallic brocade dress Bobbie Barrett wore at the Stork Club, a teal evening gown worn by Betty for a night out on the town with Don and a green frock worn by Joan in the famous lawn-mower episode.
Those looking for something a little more practical can bid on ’60s furniture and props from the offices of Don Draper and Roger Sterling in the Sterling Cooper ad agency.
But perhaps the most sought-after item in this auction is a walk-on role.
