Madoff’s Illegally Obtained Loot on the Auction Block

Looking for that perfect gift this holiday season? Why not snap up a stylish blue-and-orange satin New York Mets jacket emblazoned with the name “Madoff”? It will be a great conversation-starter and could be yours for a mere $500 to $720.

For all those collectors out there interested in preserving a little piece of infamous history, head over to the New York Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Manhattan this Saturday, where you’ll find an auction of all of Bernie Madoff’s things, courtesy of the US Marshals Service and executed by Gaston & Sheehan Auctioneers, according to USA Today.

Madoff won’t need the stuff where he’s going; he’ll be in an orange jumpsuit serving a 150-year prison term after pleading guilty to ripping off innocent people to the tune of billions and billions — and billions — of dollars.

Here are some of the other treasures that could be yours (see photos here):

  • a 1933 Rolex chronograph watch with alligator strap estimated at $18,000 to $20,500.
  • a set of golf clubs, including a driver inscribed with “Ruth Madoff South Fork CC” (Country Club), estimated at $350 to $400.
  • three boogie boards with “Madoff” scribbled in black marker, along with fishing equipment, going for between $80 and $90.

The good news is that all the proceeds are going to Madoff’s Ponzi scheme victims.
