Forty-eight-year-old Erik Bendl from Louisville, Ky. and his dog Nice are literally pushing the world across the US to raise awareness and funds for diabetes, HuffPo reports.
When Bendl’s mother died of diabetes in 1987 at the young age of 54, he decided he had to do something to make a difference.
In his garage, he found a 6-foot-tall air-filled sphere and painted it to look like earth. Since then, he has walked with it for over 3,000 miles in 23 states for the American Diabetes Association.
Referred to as the World Guy, he walked 160 miles for his first walk in the ’90s, 430 for his second, 570 for his third, 1,023 for his fourth and now he’s on his fifth but has no destination. You can follow his travels and cheer him along on his blog, worldguy.org.
