Martha Stewart and Hallmark Announce a Good Thing

Oprah’s not the only one making major television moves: Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. made a major announcement today about a new partnership with the Hallmark Channel. Devotees of the domestic diva and the “gold crown” channel alike will love this deal that promises to bring even more Martha (and even more crafts, cooking tips, and, obviously, good things) to TV for even more hours every day.

The Hallmark Channel will air original episodes of Stewart’s Emmy-winning lifestyle show, The Martha Stewart Show, daily from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Then, viewers will be able to stay tuned in from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. as the Hallmark Channel presents “exclusive original programming currently in development at MSLO.” This additional hour and a half of Martha will showcase experts and personalities from within the Martha Stewart organization, but, most importantly to fans, it will mean more Martha.

Not only is the Hallmark Channel tacking on an extra hour-plus of The Martha Stewart Show (currently airing on NBC), MSLO will also “develop a range of new and original series and prime time specials that will complement the network’s current schedule of popular original movies, movies from the acclaimed ‘Hallmark Hall of Fame’ library collection, specials and classic television series.” I can’t wait to catch the world premiere of My French Bulldogs & Me. Ms. Stewart, pictured here with Bill Abbott (President and CEO of Hallmark Channels) and Charles Koppelman (CEO of MSLO), can’t wait for the new partnership to begin either: “I’m delighted that we have found the perfect home for the kind of programming that consumers look to us for, a home that is devoted to excellence, family life and celebrations — what we call Living.”
