Michelle Obama Mentors Glamorously

Michelle Obama threatens to upstage her husband. Everywhere you turn, there she is: digging in the White House garden, getting her hula hoop on, encouraging people to volunteer. Now we hear that she’ll be on the cover of Glamour Magazine in December for the Women of the Year issue.

She didn’t get her photo on the cover just because she’s beautiful and accomplished and owns a fabulous red dress, however; she garnered the spot because of her active role in mentoring our nation’s youth.

As if to prove it, the Chicago Tribune reports that the first lady and some of her female White House colleagues — White House Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett, White House Public Liaison Office Head Tina Tchen, first lady’s Chief of Staff Susan Sher and White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers — are launching a mentoring program involving around 20 high school girls from the Washington area.

“I see how little bits of exposure and big bits of exposure really change my girls significantly, and I want that for more girls around the country and the world,” Mrs. Obama told the Associated Press about her commitment to mentoring girls.
