You may know Montel Williams as the affable host of his show, The Montel Williams Show, which was unceremoniously terminated in May 2008. And you may know that after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, he founded The Montel Williams MS Foundation, and that he’s a New York Times bestselling author (Living Well). You may even know he’s a proponent of medical marijuana which he uses to manage pain from his disease.
What you may not know is that Montel Williams is a shark on the poker table.
He’s played for over 20 years — and in the big leagues too. He is a former chip leader in the World Series of Poker Main Event (see, serious big leagues!) and earlier this year, he met up with some A-list cohorts (Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jason Alexander and Charles Barkley to name a few) at the Ante for Africa charity poker tournament which was founded to help raise money for relief efforts in Darfur.
Because like Montel would tell you, when the chips are down, the best thing is to just play on through.
Poker News Daily spoke to him which you can read here.
