What is one to do with a holiday like National Boss’s Day? It’s today, October 16, and I’m at a loss.
I mean, honestly, it doesn’t seem to call for feasting or popping open the bubbly. Perhaps a practical joke would do, like the time on “The Office” when Jim put Dwight’s stapler into a plate of Jell-O (see #6 here). In case that seems to fit the bill, check out these simple instructions for getting a stapler — or anything else really — into Jell-O.
Or is today, as Holiday Insights suggests, your chance to tell your boss just what you think of him or her? Not unless it’s something positive, according to Calendar Updates, which states that the occasion is actually meant to encourage subordinates to show gratitude for their bosses’ leadership.
Well geez, isn’t it enough that bosses get to order us around all day? Do we really have to thank them for it?
Bob Wire shares his opinion on New West Community Blogs: “Boss’s Day is only the latest in a disturbing trend of fake holidays that have been introduced only to induce guilt in those who ignore them.”
Regardless of how you choose to celebrate or not celebrate, you may get a kick out of this handy BossMan action figure, which comes from Happy Worker, complete with scowl and megaphone. And perhaps while you’re checking that out, you should pick up a “happy worker mask” to make sure that megaphone isn’t used on you.
